       19岁的女孩洁依（麦卡·梦露 Maika Monroe 饰）美丽迷人，她憧憬浪漫美好的青春恋情，却未曾想莫大的灾难突然降临。她和男孩休（杰克·威尔瑞 Jake Weary 饰）外出约会，期间休表现出恐慌的一面。在那个迷离的夜晚，燕好之后的洁依遭到休粗暴对待，继而得知休恐 慌的原因。原来一直有一个他人看不见的“人”跟随着休，TA可以变换任何人的容貌，并以杀死休为目标。摆脱TA的方法只有通过性将其转给其他人。自此之后，洁依无时无刻不出在恐慌之中，妹妹凯莉以及好友保罗、雅拉等人为其担忧，可是那看不见的追踪者随时随地出现。　　
       TA是洁依无法摆脱的原罪，是投射在灵魂深处的恐怖阴影……
       19岁的洁依（Maika Monroe饰）在与男友“初尝禁果”后，开始看见幻象。原来男友与其做爱的原因是想把缠着自己的鬼魂一般存在的超自然实体传给下一个人。这个”它“会在任何时间以任意人的形象找上门来，向你走来并伤害你。男友完事抛弃洁依之前劝告洁依”如法炮制“尽早传给下家。出事之后洁依的朋友前来安抚她。洁依在朋友们的陪同下找到了抛下自己的男友，男友给出了更为详尽的解释：自己的”它“可能是在酒吧与一个陌生女孩一夜情后染上的。关于这个”它“，你无法摆脱，只有不断把”它“传给下一个人。不过自己仍然能看到“它”，因为”它“无论如何被传递给下家，最终会杀回源头。
       洁依与朋友们到海边的一处居所躲避一阵，也就是在此地，众人与”它“有了第一次遭遇。虽然除了洁依，朋友们看不见”它“，但它的确是实体，并打伤了洁依的朋友，洁依惊惧，独自驾车逃离，慌乱之中发生车祸，醒来时已在医院，而朋友们在一旁守候。当晚，洁依做出了与朋友格雷格（Daniel Zovatto饰）发生关系的决定。
接下来的几天格雷格安然无恙，称并没有看见”它“。一天夜里，洁依在家看见对面格雷格屋前有一男子徘徊并砸窗进入了格雷格家。洁依赶忙前去，到达时发现格雷格的”母亲“衣衫不整，立于格雷格房间前，面无表情并不停地猛敲房门。洁依大声警告格雷格不要开门。可是已经来不及，其”母“一跃而起，猛地扑倒格雷格，并骑在他身上强行与其发生关系。倒在地上的格雷格面色惨白，已无生命迹象。
       失魂落魄的洁依迅速驱车逃离，因为照”它“杀回源头的规矩，自己就是下一个……
