玩咖尬宅爸》导演大卫多布金执导，小劳勃道尼大声疾呼这是他等了49年非拍不可的作品，他与奥斯卡影帝劳勃杜瓦在片中有精彩的父子对手戏。
汉克帕玛(小劳勃道尼 饰)求学时期就离乡，靠着灵活的头脑与辩才无碍的思路，让自己成为大城市之中的大牌骠悍律师，任何一个能够请得起他的人，无论多么凶险，都能够安稳地渡过官司这一关。事实上，能够花钱请得起他的多半是黑心企业，而他也的确在几年之间快速地累积财富。
当他的家人来电告知母亲过世的消息，这位意气风发的律师瞬间像是泄了气的汽球，因为他知道，除了要面对母丧的痛苦之外，他将见到好久不见的父亲。他是小镇中任职超过四十年，嫉恶如仇的法官，从小对汉克帕玛更是严厉异常，汉克甚至直呼他“大法官”也不愿意叫他爸爸。
这两人多年以来都没有联系，直到母丧才不得不回到同一个屋檐下，汉克意外发现自己的父亲卷入一场谋杀案，尽管与父亲水火不容，但是汉克知道父亲绝对不可能杀人，但是所有的证据都对他的父亲不利，汉克要如何证明自己父亲的清白，这场官司又会如何影响这对父子之间势同水火的关系？
小劳勃道尼的妻子苏珊道尼是本片的制片之一，她表示小劳勃道尼平常就有很强的亲和力，而且辩才无碍，《大法官》中汉克律师的角色就像是为他量身订做一般。
