◎简 介
在亚马逊丛林腹地，探险科学家图里奥（罗德里格·桑托罗 Rodrigo Santoro 配音）和琳达（莱斯利·曼恩 Leslie Mann 配音）发现几近灭绝的野生蓝色斯皮克斯金刚鹦鹉。夫妻俩通过电视向全世界宣布这一惊人消息，看到这一幕的珠儿（Anne Hathaway 配音）劝说丈夫布鲁（Jesse Eisenberg 配音），打算带着三个调皮可爱并且已经习惯了人类文明世界生活的鹦鹉小宝宝，回到它们生长千百年的故乡寻找同类。鹦鹉一家说走就走，和它们的好朋友踏上充满惊险和乐趣的空中旅程。与此同时，某非法砍伐团体看到新闻，为防止图里奥夫妻阻挠他们的罪行，他们也悄悄采取行动。另一方面，与布鲁积怨已久的葵花凤头鹦鹉奈杰发现布鲁的踪迹，也愤然采取行动。
布鲁一家最不平凡的假期，正朝着意想不到的方向发展……

·影片的北美版预告海报中，大约150只斯皮克斯金刚鹦鹉的身体组成了一个“2”字，这个数字也是世界上已知现存这一种类鹦鹉的全部数量。
·本片是蓝天工作室继《冰河世纪》之后第二部被制作成系列影片的动画片。
·影片歌手配唱团阵容豪华，在前一部奥斯卡影帝兼格莱美歌王杰米·福克斯、格莱美最佳组合黑眼豆豆团长Will.I.a m的基础上，又加入了当红格莱美歌王布鲁诺·马尔斯、新晋唱作女歌手加奈儿·梦奈等。
·《里约大冒险》第一和二部的编剧唐·莱默尔在2012年因癌症病逝，年仅51岁。本片是他的最后一部作品。莱默尔担任编剧的其他影片包括《绝地奶霸》、《圣诞老人2》、《冲浪季节》等。
·为“碧雅”配音的黑人童星阿曼德拉·斯坦伯格生于1998年，之前她曾在《饥饿游戏1》中出演善良的Rue一角，给人留下深刻的印象。
·为“卡拉”配音的蕾切尔·克罗是首次参与电影。2011年，13岁的她参加第一届美版《x-factor》歌手选手入围五强而一举成名。
·布鲁的情敌罗伯特这个角色，剧组考虑过众多配音人选，但看过布鲁诺在《周六夜现场》(SNL)的表现后，就决定是他了。“我看了布鲁诺·马尔斯在SNL的片段，觉得他真的很有趣”，导演沙尔丹哈回忆道。
·罗伯特的角色原本是一个典型的“猛男”，男子气概爆棚，令布鲁感到很自卑。这个角色后来选定歌手布鲁诺·马尔斯出演之后做出了修改，让它变得更能歌善舞。
·片中拉斐尔的夫人伊娃被描述成一位极其糟糕的歌手，但为她配音的贝贝儿·吉尔贝托现实中唱功很不错。
·当年艾森伯格第一次给布鲁配音的时候，还没结束《社交网络》的拍摄。因此布鲁说话的语速略快，是受了“马克·扎克伯格”的影响，不过他在《里约2》中的语速正常多了。
