每天醒来，克丽丝汀都身处一个陌生的房间，身旁躺着一个不认识的男人。
当她面对镜子，发现自己居然老了20岁。那个男人会告诉他，你今年47岁，20年前遭遇严车祸，从此记忆受损。我是你的丈夫本，你很安全。
克丽丝汀的记忆只能保持一天，每天醒来，就再也不记得昨天发生过事。关于她世界里的一切，全部只能由本告知。不过每一天，她也会接到陌生的纳什医生来电，要她到衣橱后方找出日记。原来，克丽丝汀在睡前会写下今天的事作为“备忘录”，提醒明天失忆的自己。
就这样，克丽丝汀借着日记的累积，一天天重建了自己的历史，但细节渐渐和本以及纳什医生的说法产生矛盾。他到底该相信谁？
